Aspects of the dental-medical treatment of patients with malignant disease

In Germany more than 400.000 individuals per year are newly diagnosed with malignant disease. Among these almost 5.000 cases belong to the group of head and neck cancer. Due to improved diagnostic tools and a higher live expectancy there is a tedency towards an continuously increasing prevalence for malignant diseases. This development leads to a growing demand for dental care in individuals that have already completed or are currently undergoing oncologic tretament. The following contribution provides information on the impact of oncologic disease and its treatment on dental care.
