Rainer Buchmann
As advances in research, science and technology are promoting, dental professionals need to accomplish more trust and confidence in practice-based decison-making and treatment planing, and keep periodontal diseases at-bay for each individual patient. The increment of publications, statements and dental informations rather seduce practitioners to apply new technologies than to provide the least invasive and most cost-effective treatment regimens for their patients. However, limited evidence of new developments, increasing health insurance requests and individual economical issues restrain professionals from tranferring the utmost periodontal treatment protocols into practice. To achieve a consistent, far-sighted practice success a step-by-step treatment regimen is necessary allowing patients to realize the benefits of optimal oral care. The present paper outlines a patient-centered periodontal treatment plan with the resulting expenses.

Key words: Practice-based decison-making, treatment planing, oral medicine, regenerative periodontal therapy, medical expenses.
